Frye Regional Medical Center, affiliated with Duke LifePoint Healthcare, has introduced a new cold therapy treatment aimed at alleviating knee pain. This method utilizes the body's natural response to cold to reduce discomfort and serves as a non-opioid alternative for managing knee pain. The procedure is minimally invasive and operates by temporarily disabling certain nerves around the knee that contribute to pain.

The treatment is particularly beneficial for individuals unable to undergo surgery or those seeking post-operative pain relief. It aligns with ongoing efforts to decrease opioid use in the community. Dr. Michael Seel, an orthopedic surgeon at Frye Regional Medical Center, stated, “We are excited to add this new treatment option as part of our pain management program, helping make joint replacement surgery as comfortable as possible.”

Dr. Philip Greene, CEO of Frye Regional Medical Center, expressed his enthusiasm: “I am excited that we are able to offer this safe and innovative pain relief treatment to patients who live in our community.” He emphasized that this addition supports their mission of promoting good health within the community.

To learn more about the cold therapy procedure for knee pain or schedule an appointment with an orthopedic provider, interested individuals can call 800-315-5000.

Frye Regional Medical Center has been serving Catawba Valley residents since 1911 and focuses on delivering high-quality care. In recent years, the hospital has made significant investments in capital improvements and provided extensive services and support to those in need. The facility includes a range of specialized centers and departments catering to various medical needs.
