Congressman Pat Harrigan has urged Attorney General Pam Bondi to initiate a federal investigation into GNC Holdings, LLC. The call for action comes after concerns surfaced about the company's ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its operations on U.S. military bases.

"The CCP has zero business being anywhere near our troops," expressed Congressman Harrigan, reflecting the gravity of the situation. He further stated, "GNC lied about its ownership, embedded itself in our military communities, and may be funneling sensitive data straight to Beijing. It’s a national security threat, and it needs to be shut down."

In 2020, Harbin Pharmaceutical Group, a Chinese state-owned company, acquired GNC. Despite the acquisition, GNC reportedly declared on federal filings that it had no parent company, raising questions about compliance with federal regulations. The issue is compounded by GNC's access to personal health data through its loyalty programs and consultations on U.S. bases, which could risk exposure of sensitive information to Chinese intelligence.

Congressman Harrigan has called upon the Department of Justice to explore potential criminal violations and to evaluate the national security risks tied to a CCP-controlled firm's presence on military installments.
