City of Morganton issued the following announcement on Aug. 14.
Internet service has been restored to all affected COMPAS customers. If you are still without internet and rebooting your modem has not resolved the issue, call 828-438-5353.
Update 7:55pm: Approximately 200 COMPAS internet customers are currently without service as a result of the power outage. These customers are in the areas of Riverside Drive, West Union Street, North and South Anderson Street, and Camelot Drive. Crews are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore internet service for all affected customers.
Update 6:00pm: Power has been restored to all affected customers, except customers on Roper Street. Crews are continuing to make repairs for those customers.
Update 5:01pm: The outage caused by the thunderstorms is now affecting 1800 customers. Crews are aware of the outage and are responding. They will begin work as soon as it is safe to do so.
City crews are responding to a power outage affecting approximately 1,000 customers caused by the ongoing thunderstorms in our area. They are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore power to customers, and will begin work once the lightning has subsided and it is safe to do so. If you are experiencing an outage, you should call 828-438-5277 to report it.
