North Carolina hospitals in Wilmington, Hickory, Concord, Charlotte and Winston Salem received surgical masks donations from Corning Inc. in support of medical workers combating the COVID-19 pandemic, the Independent Tribune reported on April 11.
Corning also plans to donate 150,000 facemasks to hospitals in New York, New Jersey, and Virginia, Independent Tribune reported
“Our global teams have been working to help source essential supplies for health care providers fighting COVID-19, while also ensuring the health and safety of our employees. Leveraging our supply chain, we were able to source and donate surgical masks desperately needed to keep frontline medical workers safe,” Dr. Michael Lappi, Corning chief medical officer, told the Independent Tribune.
Corning is also focusing on the safety of its employees while supporting and aiding the communities where they live and operate.
“Corning is deeply grateful for the health care professionals on the front lines of the fight against COVID-19 in North Carolina,” Dr. Bernhard Deutsch, vice president, and general manager of Corning Optical Fiber and Cable, said, according to the Independent Tribune. “We appreciate the opportunity to help meet this critical need in our communities across the state, as we support the health and safety of our employees, and those who care for them.”
