Catawba County’s 34 coaches earned an average salary of $38,478 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the 21st lowest average salary per county earned by coaches at North Carolina post-secondary schools during 2022.

Catawba County is home to two post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Lenoir-Rhyne University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $48,236.

Male coaches of men's teams received $55,534 on average in Catawba County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $36,980.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
