6.1% of Burke County residents considered unemployed in 2021

Burke County recorded an unemployment rate of 6.1% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 2,537 people out of the 87,829 living in Burke County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Burke County has decreased compared to the 6.6% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Burke County was greater than the statewide unemployment rate of 5.2%.

Of the 39,052 people who had a job during that time, 64 were employed in the Armed Forces and 38,988 belonged to the civilian labor force.
