County of Burke issued the following announcement on Nov. 5.
Notice is hereby given that the Burke County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing at 6:00 p.m. (or as soon thereafter as persons may be heard) on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, in the County Board Room, Burke County Services Building, 110 North Green Street, Entrance E, Morganton, NC to consider an economic development incentive for Project Umbrella. The City of Morganton is applying for a $240,000 Building Reuse grant which requires a $12,000 local match.
The County’s portion of the match is $6,000 and 30 new jobs will be created. The Board of Commissioners believe the project will stimulate economic activity, will result in the creation of additional jobs, help stabilize and increase the tax base and create additional revenues in the County. If reasonable ADA accommodations are needed to participate, please contact the Clerk at 828-764-9350 at least 48 hours prior to the meeting. Meetings are also streamed live at 6:00 p.m. on YouTube at BurkeCountyNC.
