City of Hickory issued the following announcement on Oct. 3.
Public Utilities will be closing Sixth Street NW, between Twelfth Avenue NW (Geitner Rd) and Thirteenth Avenue Place NW, for infrastructure installation.
The work will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will last until 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 5, and again on Wednesday, October 6. The work will happen at night when traffic is at a minimum. The roadway will reopen each morning, but there may be gravel and/or steel plates in the roadway. Please use caution while driving in this area.
