City of Morganton issued the following announcement on Jul. 15.
Crews will be closing lanes of traffic in Downtown Morganton next week to ensure their safety while performing construction work on the Courthouse Square.
Crews will close both lanes of traffic in the 100 block of East Meeting Street, and one lane of traffic on North Green Street and South Sterling Street on Tuesday, July 20. Detour signage will be in place to help motorists navigate safely around the construction.
Once work is completed, the lanes of traffic will be reopened. Motorists should plan to use caution while passing through Downtown Morganton on Tuesday in order to ensure workers’ safety.
