PROJECT DOWNY

NOVEMBER 17, 2020 – 6:00 P.M.

Notice is hereby given that the Burke County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing at 6:00 p.m. (or as soon thereafter as persons may be heard) on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, in the County Board Room, Burke County Services Building, 110 North Green Street, Entrance E, in Morganton, NC.  The purpose of the public hearing is giving consideration to and approving the expenditure of public funds to assist with the location of Project Downy located in Burke County (Hildebran) via a Building Reuse grant. A Building Reuse grant application for $100,000 is being submitted to the State by the County.   Burke County and the Town of Hildebran will provide the 5 percent local match of $2,500 each or $5,000 total.   The Company will create at least 19 new jobs.  The jobs will meet or exceed the average county wage and will include healthcare benefits.  The Board of Commissioners and the Hildebran Town Council believe the project will stimulate economic activity, will result in the creation of new jobs, help stabilize and increase the tax base and create additional revenues for both entities.
