Rep. Destin Hall (R-Caldwell) released a video on Facebook in September, calling out Democrat leadership regarding absentee voting.
"What the Democrats are doing to our election is outrageous," the Republican lawmaker said in his Sept. 29 Facebook post. "We cannot allow this kind of partisan activity to undermine the integrity of our elections."
The video targeted Gov. Ray Cooper and Attorney General Josh Stein, about comments they made concerning the general election.
"Governor Roy Cooper enables absentee ballot fraud. Cooper's Administration is gutting bipartisan election laws that made absentee voting more secure after Democrat A.G. Josh Stein admits that absentee ballots are most vulnerable to fraud," the video said.
The video then puts the spotlight on Stein, showing a clip of him saying absentee ballots being vulnerable.
"Hardly any in-person voter fraud occurs. The bulk of voter fraud occurs absentee," the video said.
However, there is no evidence of widespread voter fraud, despite claims in the past mainly from Republicans.
The video then doubles down, raising the question once again why Stein's actions aren't matching up to his words.
"So why is Gov. Cooper eliminating absentee witness requirements? Counting unrecorded mass ballot dropoffs? Opposing voter I.D. for absentee ballots? Voting started over two weeks ago. Why are democrats changing the rules now?" the video said.
