CITY OF MORGANTON: Morganton City Council to hold town hall meeting October 13

City seal 500px

City of Morganton issued the following announcement on Oct. 1.

Let’s talk, Morganton!

While the national news is filled with stories and videos of civil unrest and communities breaking down, leadership in Morganton is committed to working with the community in a productive and collaborative manner.

Working together to ensure Morganton is a place where all voices matter and respectful dialogue is commonplace can move us forward and set us apart from other communities.

As Mayor Thompson always says, “Our community thrives when citizens are engaged.”  The public is always welcome to make comments at regular Council meetings or contact Council members or the Human Relations Commission directly to voice concerns.

In an effort to encourage dialogue, Morganton City Council is holding an open Special Town Hall meeting titled “Let’s talk Morganton” on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 to discuss any topics of interest or issues the community would like to see addressed by Council.  There is no set agenda for this meeting; your concerns, questions, and comments will be the agenda. We want to hear from you.

The Special Town Hall will be held at the Collett Street Recreation Center at 300 Collett St. on Tuesday, October 13, at 5:30 PM and the public is invited and encouraged to attend.  It is requested that anyone planning on attending please contact Kelly Russell at krussell@ci.morganton.nc.us  by 12:00 p.m. on October 13 to ensure we can make accommodations to practice social distancing and keep everyone safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Masks will be required to enter the building.
