City of Lenoir issued the following announcement on Sept. 1.
The City of Lenoir recognizes that the COVID-19 pandemic has created financial hardships for some of our residential utility customers.
In an effort to provide a way for customers to bring their balances up to date, the City will offer payment plans for customers who were unable to pay their utility bills since March, April, May, June, and July this year. Customers will have to meet the following requirements:
- Accounts with a past due balances prior to March 2020 will need to be brought current or arrangement for payment be made.
- Past due balance must be paid as agreed to in the payment plan, as well as the current monthly utility bill.
- Arrangements should be made by Oct. 15, 2020, to avoid late fees and disconnection of service.
Customers can sign up for a payment plan by completing an online form, but they must first contact Customer Service to see if they are eligible and to get the correct payment plan details from City staff. Once a customer has their plan details, they can complete and submit the payment plan application form.
To request a payment plan, call Customer Service at 828-757-2200, ext. 3008 or 3012.
The City has also partnered with Caldwell County Yokefellow to provide utility bill payment help. Click here to read more about that program.
