Congressman Pat Harrigan marked the 235th anniversary of the United States Coast Guard and discussed his recent legislative activities in a series of posts on August 4, 2025.

In his first post of the day, Harrigan acknowledged the service of the Coast Guard: “Happy 235th, @USCG! Thank you for your service securing our maritime borders and protecting American lives on the seas.” (August 4, 2025).

Later that morning, Harrigan reflected on his role as a freshman member of Congress. He wrote: “We’re at a point in our nation’s history where problems have been allowed to stack up, and as a freshman in Congress I’ve had more influence to address them than I expected.

On @HASCRepublicans and @HouseScience I’m taking them head on—fixing our defense, helping @POTUS achieve” (August 4, 2025).

In an afternoon post, Harrigan highlighted recent legislative achievements by House Republicans. He stated: “One month ago today, the @HouseGOP passed the One Big Beautiful Bill, delivering historic results for hardworking Americans:

$4 trillion in tax relief, including permanent cuts and no federal tax on tips or overtime
$1.4 trillion in spending cuts to fight waste and fraud” (August 4, 2025).

Pat Harrigan was elected to Congress in November 2024 after defeating Ralph R. Scott, Jr., receiving approximately 57.5% of the vote compared to Scott’s 38.2%.
