Congressman Pat Harrigan, who secured his seat in the 2024 general election by defeating Ralph R. Scott, Jr., posted a series of updates on August 14, 2025, highlighting recent government actions related to veterans’ affairs, food security efforts in North Carolina, and border enforcement.

In one post from August 14, Harrigan reported on the Department of Veterans Affairs’ progress: “The VA just processed a record 2.5 million claims this fiscal year, nearly 2 months before year’s end. Later that day, Harrigan shared details from his visit to a regional food bank: “Stopped by Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, where they move up to 40 tons of food a day to help families across 18 counties. Grateful to Eric Aft and Jan Jones for showing me around and talking about ways to tackle EBT fraud.” (August 14).

Addressing border security statistics on the same date, Harrigan stated: “For the third month in a row, ZERO illegal aliens have been released into the country. May 2024: 62,000 released May 2025: 0 June 2024: 100,000 released June 2025: 0 July 2024: 50,000 released July 2025: 0 Under @POTUS, the border is the most secure it’s ever”.
