Congressman Pat Harrigan has recently used his social media platform to address federal funding for hazard mitigation, enforcement of the Berry Amendment, and legislative action against digital abuse.

On April 6, 2026, Harrigan highlighted the delivery of federal funds to Western North Carolina, stating, “Before @SecMullinDHS even lands in WNC tomorrow, he’s already delivered $26M+ in Hazard Mitigation funds, approved to reimburse homeowners across Polk, Yancey, and Henderson counties. These families have been waiting long enough, and I’m grateful he’s making sure the money”.

Two days later, on April 8, 2026, Harrigan discussed the Berry Amendment’s lack of enforcement. He wrote, “The Berry Amendment is a federal law requiring the government to buy American made gear for our troops but nobody is enforcing it and Chinese manufacturers are winning contracts they should never have. I co-chaired the launch of the new bipartisan Berry Amendment Caucus to make”.

Later that same day, Harrigan addressed digital abuse legislation by referencing a specific case and recent legislative efforts: “What James Strahler did to his victims is one of the most disturbing cases of digital abuse we have ever seen, and the law needed to catch up with the technology enabling it. I cosponsored the Take It Down Act so that people like him face serious federal consequences, not a”.

Pat Harrigan was elected to Congress in 2024 after defeating Ralph R. Scott, Jr., securing approximately 57.5% of the vote compared to Scott’s 38.2%.
