Congressman Pat Harrigan, who represents North Carolina’s 10th Congressional District and is a U.S. Army combat veteran, recently outlined several defense priorities on his social media account. The posts, dated July 18, 2025, highlight initiatives related to military construction efficiency, advanced weapon testing, and mental health support for servicemembers.
In one post from July 18, 2025, Harrigan addressed the role of artificial intelligence in military infrastructure: “7. Using AI to speed up military construction. Base projects are stuck in bureaucratic bottlenecks, AI helps streamline planning and approvals.”
On the same day, he discussed advancements in infantry technology: “10. Testing smart fire controls on next-gen infantry rifles. Before we field new weapon systems, we need to be sure they work under real combat conditions.”
Harrigan also emphasized mental health resources for troops: “9. Expanding access to anonymous mental health care for troops. Servicemembers deserve private, stigma-free ways to get support when they need it.”
These statements come amid ongoing efforts within the Department of Defense to modernize military operations and improve service member welfare through technological innovation and policy reform.
