Congressman Pat Harrigan, who won the 2024 general election against Ralph R. Scott, Jr., has posted a series of statements on social media regarding the death of Charlie Kirk. The posts criticize political opponents and media coverage in the aftermath of Kirk’s death.
On September 10, 2025, Harrigan wrote, “The Left couldn’t stand 15 feet in front of Charlie and argue with his logic, so they shot him from 200 yards away instead
Absolutely disgusting.”
Later that day, he addressed Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker directly, stating, “.@GovPritzker, Charlie Kirk is dead. And instead of condemning the shooter, your first move was to recycle a cheap talking point.
That is exactly the problem. Your party has spent years dehumanizing conservatives as ‘threats to democracy,’ branding us as enemies who don’t”
In a post dated September 11, 2025, Harrigan commented on how the media reported Kirk’s death: “A young man is MURDERED at 31, and history will record that the media wrote not of his courage or his cause, but of a “provocateur.”
That is how civilizations rot, when even death is weaponized to strip a man of his humanity.”
Harrigan’s comments come less than a year after he secured his seat in Congress by defeating Ralph R. Scott, Jr., receiving approximately 57.5% of the vote in the 2024 general election.
