Congressman Pat Harrigan, who won the 2024 general election against Ralph R. Scott, Jr., has recently addressed several policy issues in a series of posts on his social media account.
On October 16, 2025, Harrigan criticized global carbon tax initiatives, referencing European experiences and expressing concern about potential impacts on American families. He stated, “A global carbon tax is economic suicide. Europe tried it and their industries are collapsing under skyrocketing energy costs and plummeting competitiveness. The UN wants to force that same disaster on American families who are already struggling. @POTUS is absolutely right to” (October 16, 2025).
Later the same day, Harrigan commented on recent legislative actions regarding government funding. He wrote, “Democrats have voted NINE times to block a clean continuing resolution that keeps the government funded at the exact same levels it has been operating under all year. It doesn’t cut programs or raise spending, it simply keeps the government open so both sides can negotiate a full” (October 16, 2025).
In another post from October 16, 2025, Harrigan highlighted domestic manufacturing developments related to Sharpie markers. He said, “Sharpies are manufactured in America again, and the results destroy every excuse for offshoring. Newell Brands invested in their Tennessee factory and trained their workers for advanced skills. Wages jumped 50 percent while production costs DROPPED and employment stayed stable.”
Harrigan was elected to Congress in November 2024 after defeating Ralph R. Scott, Jr., receiving approximately 57.5% of the vote compared to Scott’s 38.2%.
