Congressman Pat Harrigan has recently taken to social media to criticize Democratic leadership over the ongoing government shutdown and to comment on a breakthrough in Middle East diplomacy.
On October 8, 2025, Harrigan wrote, “.@HughHewitt and I aren’t alone—70% of Americans oppose this Democrat shutdown. Democrats demanded clean CRs 12 times under Biden and Republicans gave them every single one. Now, Democrats are sabotaging the exact same bill under Trump because they care more about hurting this”.
The following day, October 9, Harrigan continued his criticism, focusing on Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer: “You can’t make this up. Schumer has spent years condemning shutdowns, and now he is the architect of one. He’s surrendered to the radical fringe to save his political hide, and he’s taking the entire Democratic Party down with him. Five Democrats could end this circus today”.
Later on October 9, Harrigan commented on an international development involving President Trump: “President Trump has accomplished what every expert said was impossible—he brokered a peace deal between Israel and Hamas. For years, we were told this could never happen. Yet here we are, watching the seemingly impossible unfold in real time. If Hamas holds up their end of this”.
Pat Harrigan, who won his seat in Congress by defeating Ralph R. Scott, Jr. in the 2024 general election with 57.5% of the vote, has been vocal in his criticism of Democratic strategies during government funding negotiations.
