Congressman Pat Harrigan marked the anniversary of World War II’s end and commented on recent developments regarding U.S. border policy and disaster relief in Appalachia through a series of posts on September 2, 2025.

In a post reflecting on the close of World War II, Harrigan stated, “80 years ago, the Greatest Generation brought World War II to an end and secured freedom for the world. We honor their courage, their sacrifice, and the timeless reminder that America is strongest when it stands unafraid in defense of liberty!” (posted at 16:19 UTC on September 2, 2025).

Later that day, he addressed border security measures following new policies implemented by President Biden. Citing a United Nations-backed report, Harrigan wrote, “BREAKING: 14,000 migrants who hoped to cross into the U.S. have turned back after @POTUS’s border policies took effect, according to a UN-backed report. With illegal crossings down 97%, the message is clear: the American Dream cannot be built on cartels, loopholes, and illegal” (posted at 16:41 UTC on September 2, 2025).

On disaster relief efforts following Hurricane Helene in Appalachia, Harrigan noted perceived delays in federal response: “Families in Appalachia carried each other through the worst days of Helene while Washington turned its back. Only after @POTUS returned to the White House did real leadership and relief reach our communities.” (posted at 18:19 UTC on September 2, 2025).

Harrigan serves as a member of Congress after winning election in 2024 against Ralph R. Scott, Jr., securing approximately 57.5% of the vote.
