Congressman Pat Harrigan, who won the 2024 general election against Ralph R. Scott, Jr., used his social media platform on August 11, 2025, to address several pressing national and international issues.

In a post made at 13:39 UTC, Harrigan commented on recent maritime tensions involving China. He stated, “While China recklessly and incompetently plays bumper boats with its own ships, we should not overlook the aggressiveness of this action or how fast DDG-164 was moving. We need to understand what it means for the United States as China continues to see itself as an expansionist”.

Later that day at 15:32 UTC, Harrigan expressed support for the President’s decision to deploy the National Guard in Washington D.C., writing “I applaud @POTUS for sending the National Guard to reclaim our capital. DC has been overrun by violence and lawlessness, and today begins its return to safety and order.”

At 17:45 UTC on the same day, Harrigan highlighted diplomatic efforts under former President Trump. He noted, “President Trump has already delivered seven peace deals in seven months. I’m hopeful that when he sits down with Putin on Friday, it’s made clear this war needs to end and he walks away with number eight.”

Pat Harrigan secured his congressional seat after defeating Ralph R. Scott, Jr. in the 2024 general election with a margin of 57.5% to 38.2%.
