Congressman Pat Harrigan, who won his seat in 2024 by defeating Ralph R. Scott, Jr., has recently used social media to comment on issues ranging from traffic enforcement technology to U.S. investment in fusion energy and support for military personnel.
On September 18, 2025, Harrigan criticized the use of automated traffic cameras as a source of government revenue. He wrote, “Meet the government’s favorite money-maker: TRAFFIC CAMERAS. In D.C. alone, one camera made $6 million in six months and another nearly $4 million. Together they’re on track to clear over a billion dollars in just a few years. These systems spit out mass fines with no context,” on his official account.
Later that day, Harrigan addressed concerns about American competitiveness in fusion energy during a House Science Committee hearing. He stated, “We’ve poured $40 billion into fusion energy and China is still outpacing us. During today’s @housescience hearing I made it clear: if America isn’t leading, we’re losing. And I, for one, will not watch Beijing surge forward while Washington congratulates itself.”
On September 19, 2025, Harrigan shared his participation with the USO in assembling care packages for deployed service members: “I joined the @USO yesterday to put together 2,000 care packages for deployed service members. When I was overseas, getting one of these always boosted morale and reminded us we weren’t forgotten. It was an honor to help do the same for those serving today.”
Harrigan secured his congressional seat after winning the general election against Ralph R. Scott, Jr., receiving 57.5% of the vote compared to Scott’s 38.2%.
