Congressman Pat Harrigan, who represents North Carolina’s 10th district, addressed a range of issues in a series of tweets posted on October 10, 2025. Harrigan discussed an upcoming town hall meeting about the government shutdown, voiced concerns over climate lawsuits targeting energy producers, and criticized a recent incident involving the release of a murder suspect from jail.
In his first tweet on October 10, Harrigan invited constituents to participate in a telephone town hall focused on the ongoing government shutdown. He wrote: “Join me for my fourth Telephone Town Hall next Wednesday, October 15th at 5:30 PM ET to talk about the government shutdown. We’ll discuss what’s happening in Washington and what it means for #NC10. Call 833-708-2161 to be part of the conversation!”
Later that day, Harrigan commented on national energy policy and legal actions affecting U.S. energy producers. He stated: “Energy security is national security. Proud to stand with @SteveScalise and 102 Republicans urging SCOTUS to stop states from waging war on American energy. These climate lawsuits could bankrupt U.S. producers and kill affordable, reliable power.”
In another post from October 10, Harrigan criticized an administrative error that led to the release of a murder suspect from Mecklenburg County Jail. He said: “A murder suspect just walked out of Mecklenburg County Jail because someone missed a paperwork deadline. This is downright unacceptable. When inexcusable actions like this happen, it only hurts innocent families. North Carolinians deserve better.”
Pat Harrigan was elected to Congress after defeating Ralph R. Scott, Jr., securing nearly 58% of the vote in the 2024 general election.
