Congressman Pat Harrigan, who represents North Carolina and won his seat in 2024 by defeating Ralph R. Scott, Jr., has recently posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing political discourse and violence.
On September 13, 2025, Harrigan expressed gratitude to commentator Alex Bruesewitz for his visit to North Carolina and for speaking out on contentious issues. He wrote, “Thank you, @alexbruesewitz—for coming to North Carolina, for speaking truth when it matters most, and for carrying on a fight that others tried to silence. Your voice means more than you know.”
Two days later, on September 15, Harrigan responded critically to The New York Times with a brief message: “Fixed it for you, @nytimes.”
Later the same day, he commented on the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Harrigan stated: “Charlie Kirk was murdered for his beliefs, plain and simple, but what makes it worse is how many people in our own communities have rushed online to celebrate his assassination. They have applauded political violence, they have cheered terrorism, and now that those same people”.
Pat Harrigan secured his congressional seat after winning the 2024 general election against Ralph R. Scott, Jr., earning 57.5% of the vote compared to Scott’s 38.2%.
