Congressman Pat Harrigan, a U.S. Representative who won his seat in 2024 by defeating Ralph R. Scott, Jr., has recently addressed several national security and public safety issues on his social media account.
On March 27, 2026, Harrigan emphasized the importance of financial education for military personnel, stating: “Financial literacy is financial security, and financial security gives you freedom. Our service members have enough on their plate defending this country, and their financial future should not be one of the things keeping them up at night.”
Later that day, he highlighted concerns regarding defense priorities and emerging threats: “Other than Operation Epic Fury, this should be the biggest defense story in the country right now, and most Americans have no idea it happened. I have been saying since my first day in Congress that the drone threat is not a future problem, it is here right now, and Barksdale” (March 27, 2026).
In another post on March 27, 2026, Harrigan commented on crime and immigration policy: “Two murders in east Charlotte, both linked to the same illegal immigrant, with an ICE detainer sitting on him the whole time. Soft on crime politicians and sanctuary policies created this environment, and innocent people are paying for it with their lives.”
Pat Harrigan was elected to Congress after winning the general election in 2024 against Ralph R. Scott, Jr., securing 57.5% of the vote compared to Scott’s 38.2%. His recent statements reflect ongoing debates about military readiness, national security threats such as drones, and local crime linked to immigration enforcement policies.
