Congressman Pat Harrigan has recently taken to social media to address issues ranging from immigration policy and crime rates to concerns over foreign influence in local U.S. elections.

On August 22, 2025, Harrigan posted, “America doesn’t need luxury hotels for illegals, it needs more detention space to deport them. I cosponsored @RepMcDowell’s ALCATRAZ Act to give states the tools to do exactly that.”

Three days later, on August 25, he commented on crime statistics by addressing Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker: “JB, your state’s been the murder capital of America for over a decade. Meanwhile in DC, @POTUS steps in and carjackings collapse 83% while the city goes 11 days without a single murder. You’re mad because he can deliver in days what you’ve failed to deliver for years.”

Later that same day, Harrigan expressed concern about foreign interference in U.S. politics: “The CCP is pouring resources into local elections because they know today’s city council member could be tomorrow’s congressman. We need to cut off their money, dismantle their networks, and hold every proxy accountable before Beijing’s influence reaches Washington.”

Pat Harrigan was elected to Congress after defeating Ralph R. Scott, Jr. in the 2024 general election with a margin of 57.5% to 38.2%. His recent statements reflect ongoing national debates about border security measures, urban crime trends under different administrations, and concerns about international involvement in American electoral processes.
