Congressman Pat Harrigan has addressed the ongoing government shutdown and its impact on North Carolina in a series of social media posts dated October 14, 2025. Harrigan, who represents North Carolina in the U.S. House of Representatives, shared details about a scheduled telephone town hall and outlined the consequences of the shutdown for his constituents.
In a post on October 14, Harrigan invited the public to participate in a virtual event, stating, “Join me TOMORROW for a telephone town hall on the government shutdown and what it means for North Carolina. 5:30–6:30PM ET (833) 708-2161”.
Later the same day, Harrigan discussed the factors he believes contribute to America’s status as a global superpower, writing, “America has four strategic advantages that make us the world’s foremost superpower: food production, energy dominance, military strength, and AI leadership. Two of those advantages depend directly on nuclear power—cheap, ubiquitous energy and artificial intelligence. If we”.

Harrigan won his seat in Congress after defeating Ralph R. Scott, Jr. in the 2024 general election, securing 57.5% of the vote compared to Scott’s 38.2%.
