Congressman Pat Harrigan, who represents North Carolina and won his seat in the 2024 general election, recently posted a series of tweets addressing the ongoing government shutdown and international security concerns.

On October 8, 2025, Harrigan highlighted the impact of the government shutdown on North Carolina, stating, “We’re 8 days into this Democrat shutdown and North Carolina is down $442 MILLION. That’s 79,000 federal workers going without paychecks right now. That’s 1.3 MILLION people on SNAP—including 535,000 children—who’ll face program disruptions in just 22 days. And if Democrats keep https://t.co/bLcriknUHA”.

Later the same day, Harrigan commented on U.S. foreign policy and security issues in a tweet referencing Representative Gallagher’s remarks: “.@RepGallagher nails it. Israel tried to buy peace with Hamas. Hamas took the money, built weapons, and slaughtered 1,200 people on Oct. 7. Right now, we’re funding China’s military through trade while Beijing openly prepares to invade Taiwan by 2027. We either learn from https://t.co/OrPWzFwWg1”.

He also posted a brief message encouraging followers to tune in for more information: ” Tune in NOW! https://t.co/hVcQDyNqEt”.

Pat Harrigan secured his congressional seat by defeating Ralph R. Scott, Jr. in the 2024 general election with 57.5% of the vote to Scott’s 38.2%.
