Congressman Pat Harrigan, a U.S. Representative who won his seat in 2024 by defeating Ralph R. Scott, Jr., has recently used his social media platform to address issues ranging from the fentanyl crisis to trucking industry challenges and road safety legislation.

On December 18, 2025, Harrigan highlighted the severity of the fentanyl epidemic, stating: “Fentanyl has killed between half a million and a million American citizens in just the last 10 years, far worse than any conflict going back to World War II. This isn’t the old war on drugs our parents fought. We’re playing a very different game here, and we’re playing to win.”

Later that day, he announced his involvement in launching a new Congressional group focused on trucking. In his post at 14:56 UTC, Harrigan wrote: “Proud to help launch the first-ever Congressional Trucking Caucus. Truckers move more than 70% of our nation’s freight, but Washington keeps making their jobs harder, and this caucus gives them a real voice in Congress to fix it.”

In another post at 15:53 UTC on December 18, Harrigan called for action on road safety legislation he is sponsoring. He wrote: “How many more Americans have to die before we pass my SAFE Drivers Act? Kerry Smith was killed in a multi-vehicle pileup by this Chinese illegal alien who was watching videos on his phone while driving. The driver couldn’t speak English and failed the proficiency test after the”

Harrigan’s statements come as he continues his legislative work following his victory over Ralph R. Scott, Jr., where he secured approximately 57.5% of the vote in the general election.
