Congressman Pat Harrigan, who secured his seat in 2024 after defeating Ralph R. Scott, Jr., has recently shared a series of posts on social media addressing crime policy and campus controversies.
On September 16, 2025, Harrigan questioned Democratic opposition to the President’s plan for addressing crime in Washington D.C., citing recent statistics. He wrote: “I genuinely don’t understand how Democrats think opposing @POTUS’s DC crime plan is a winning message. Just look at the numbers:
Homicides down 53%
Robberies down 57%
Carjackings down 75%
Violent crime down 39%
Implement the plan, cut the crime. It’s that simple.”
Later that day, Harrigan announced an update regarding Wake Forest University. He stated: “UPDATE: I’m happy to report that after I contacted @WakeForest, Bridget has been FIRED for celebrating Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
Even better, the university is giving full support to students launching a @TPUSA chapter.” The post refers to actions taken by the university following allegations of inappropriate behavior from a staff member and highlights support for a Turning Point USA student chapter.
In another post on September 16, Harrigan discussed reactions to an assassination attempt on political activist Charlie Kirk during an interview with NewsNation’s Connell McShane. He said: “In an interview today, I was asked about my reaction to Charlie Kirk’s assassination attempt and I went on to say:
‘There does not seem to be remorse on the Left for this. There are actually celebrations going on across the country.’
@NewsNation’s great host @ConnellMcShane”
Pat Harrigan represents North Carolina in Congress after winning his election against Ralph R. Scott, Jr., where he received over 57% of the vote.
