Frye Regional Medical Center released its 2025 Community Benefit Report on Apr. 28, outlining its continued efforts to improve health and economic conditions in Catawba County and nearby areas.

The report details the hospital’s investments in patient care, workforce development, and community support. Frye Regional Medical Center advances community well-being by delivering advanced specialty care locally in the Catawba Valley region, according to the official website. The facility includes a main campus in Hickory as well as a South Campus behavioral health hospital and several outpatient centers, according to the official website.

Lindy White, MBA, FABC, chief executive officer of Frye Regional Medical Center said: “Since 1911, Frye Regional has been proud to call Catawba County our home. As a leader in our community, we remain committed to delivering high-quality care, investing in our region’s well-being and making a meaningful impact on those we serve. This includes continued investment in key service lines to expand access to specialized care, as well as a strong focus on workforce development and retention to support and grow the talented team who make that care possible. This report reflects that ongoing commitment.”

In 2025, more than $10.6 million was invested into capital improvements such as upgraded monitoring equipment for patients, expanded bed capacity and new imaging technology for quicker diagnoses. The hospital provided over $71 million worth of uncompensated health services for patients regardless of their ability to pay.

As one of the largest employers in the area with more than 1,500 employees at its main campus—a 355-bed acute care hospital according to the official website—Frye Regional distributed approximately $158 million in salaries and benefits last year while also allocating over $1 million toward professional development programs for staff members.

The medical center operates under Duke LifePoint Healthcare according to the official website; it is recognized by U.S. News & World Report as high performing for heart attack and heart failure care according to the official website; it provides advanced specialty services including cardiology (as western North Carolina’s first Duke Health heart affiliate), cancer treatment neuroscience orthopedics emergency medicine women’s health behavioral health—all supported by comprehensive medical offerings across its facilities according to information from its official website.
