Frye Regional Medical Center has been recognized as a High Performing hospital for Pacemaker Implantation in the 2025-2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals edition. This distinction is the highest awarded in the publication’s Procedures & Conditions ratings, which are intended to help patients and healthcare providers make informed choices about care for complex health conditions and elective procedures.

Philip Greene, MD, chief executive officer of Frye Regional Medical Center, commented on the award: “This recognition is a testament to the skill, dedication and compassion of our cardiology team and the entire Frye Regional staff. Every day, our goal is to combine advanced technology with personalized care to help our patients live healthier, longer lives. Achievements like this reflect our unwavering commitment to delivering excellent outcomes for the communities we serve.”

The hospital’s affiliation with Duke Health brings additional cardiovascular expertise to Catawba and neighboring counties. The collaboration offers advanced training for local care providers, adherence to current clinical guidelines, and access to specialists from Duke Heart Center.

Ben Harder, managing editor and chief of health analysis at U.S. News & World Report, said: “For more than three decades, U.S. News has been an invaluable guide for patients. Hospitals designated as ‘High Performing’ by U.S. News demonstrate a consistent ability to provide excellent care for particular medical procedures and conditions, showcasing their specialized expertise as well as dedication to exceptional patient outcomes.”

U.S. News evaluated over 4,400 hospitals across 15 adult specialties and 22 procedures or conditions; only about one third received an award. The evaluation used objective criteria such as risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications, nursing care levels, and patient outcome data drawn from more than 800 million records.
