Frye Regional Medical Center has announced changes to its services in response to an approaching winter storm expected this weekend. The hospital stated that its Emergency Room will remain open around the clock, and inpatient care will continue without interruption. Essential hospital operations are set to support ongoing patient care.

Due to concerns about safety for both patients and staff, FryeCare Urgent Care will have reduced hours on Saturday, January 24, 2026, operating from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and will be closed on Sunday and Monday.

A number of affiliated clinics and outpatient departments will also close on Monday, January 26, 2026. Patients with scheduled appointments at these locations are being contacted directly to reschedule. The affected sites include various FryeCare Cardiology offices across Boone, Lenoir, Lincolnton, and Valdese; FryeCare Cardiothoracic Surgery; several family medicine practices; gastroenterology; internal medicine specialties; orthopedics and neurosurgery offices in multiple locations; pain management; specialty centers; thoracic oncology clinic; urgent care; women’s services in Lenoir and other departments.

Hospital leadership said they would keep monitoring weather conditions and provide further updates as needed.

“The safety of our patients, providers, and staff is our top priority, and we encourage our community to prioritize safety during this storm,” said Philip Greene, MD, chief executive officer of Frye Regional Medical Center. “Our teams are prepared to continue providing emergency and essential care while minimizing travel risks for patients and staff.”
