Congressman Pat Harrigan has recently addressed concerns about federal regulations, national security, and foreign ownership on his official Twitter account. Harrigan, who won the 2024 general election against Ralph R. Scott, Jr., has been active in legislative efforts related to housing and defense.
On August 12, 2025, Harrigan posted about his participation in a local housing event: “Joined the Piedmont Triad Apartment Association’s Housing Roundtable in Forsyth County to hear from builders, developers, and local leaders about how federal regulations slow projects and drive up costs. That’s why I’m proud to cosponsor the Respect State Housing Laws Act to https://t.co/8hHC3t9m9N”.
Later that day, he raised concerns regarding international partnerships in the automotive industry: “CATL makes batteries for China’s submarines and answers to the CCP. By partnering with them, @GM is jeopardizing our national security, selling out American workers, and handing our top adversary more leverage.” This statement references CATL’s role as a Chinese battery manufacturer with connections to China’s military sector.
On August 13, 2025, Harrigan commented on base security: “.@SecDef is right. Knowing who owns the land around our bases is critical, but we also have to act when our enemies are already inside the gates. My Military Installation Retail Security Act would remove adversary-owned companies from U.S. bases.”
Pat Harrigan represents North Carolina’s congressional district after winning over Ralph R. Scott, Jr. by securing 57.5% of votes in the 2024 general election.
