The City of Morganton is seeking a Surveyor to join our Team.  This is a full-time position that will perform all surveys for the City, including preparing plats for land transactions and locations for designs of water lines, sewer lines, streets, and parks.  The position will create plats of surveys, complete deed and map research, perform preliminary calculations, and determine resources needed for job.  In addition, the position is responsible for inspecting paving, utility installations, and construction projects to ensure adherence to specifications and quality.

The position works with departments across the City and a strong sense of teamwork, collaboration, and helpfulness is a must.  Excellent communication skills (communication is not defined by what comes out of your lips, but what the listeners hears!) are essential.  The ideal candidate will be able to identify issues before they occur in construction, can work independently in completing tasks, and flexible in handling changing priorities.

Degree from an accredited College or University with a degree in civil engineering, surveying technology, or related field plus five or more years’ experience in surveying; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must possess a NC professional land surveyor licensure. 

Target hiring range is $45,000 – $55,000 depending on experience.  We are targeting a starting date of January 1, 2023.
