City of Morganton issued the following announcement on Aug. 15.
On August 17th, the Greenlee Ford access parking lot and a portion of the Greenway from the parking lot to past the fishing pier will be closed.
This is to allow for the staging of equipment that will be used in the placement of a new Overmountain Victory KIA Memorial.
The dedication ceremony for the memorial will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2022.
The memorial will be a great way to signify where the Overmountain Men forged the Catawba River in 1780.
