City of Hickory Public Library issued the following announcement on Jan. 20.

It’s time to break out the toys and swap! If you know the toy has not been played with it in the last few months, help these toys find a new home and pick out something ‘new to you.’  We will accept all types of toys for youth, in working ‘like new condition,’ with all parts included (clean, no recalled toys).

You can bring items to the Children’s Reference desk at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library starting Wednesday, January 18 through Friday, January 20th by 4:30 pm.

On Saturday, at 11 am come back to pick a toy! You do not have to have donated a toy to take a toy. You can also donate without taking a toy. Feel free to donate several toys. We ask that everyone take only one toy while supplies last. We won’t tolerate any unkind behavior. This will not be a 1:1 swap (meaning we will not assess the value of one toy over another). First come first serve, children must be present at Toy Swap to receive a toy, while supplies last. Any toys left at the end of the Toy Swap, will be donated to charity.
