City of Hickory Police Department issued the following announcement on March 6.

On Friday, February 24, 2023 at approximately 7:08 A.M., the Hickory Police Department’s Communication Center received a call from Catawba Valley Medical Center’s Police Department requesting assistance investigating a serious assault on a patient by another patient. 

Hickory Police Officers responded to Catawba Valley Medical Center and conducted an investigation. 

Joseph Lee Rosales, 22 years old, was charged with attempted murder based on information and evidence gathered during the investigation.

Joseph Rosales is in the custody of the Catawba County Jail under $175,000 secured bond.
