0Comments

City of Hickory issued the following announcement on Mar. 10.

MetroNet is set to begin construction of its 100% fiber optic network in Hickory this month. MetroNet is fully funding the multimillion-dollar project that will provide Hickory residents and businesses with access to ultra-high-speed internet. Upon completion, Hickory will become a Certified Gigabit City with MetroNet’s future-proof fiber optic network.

Construction activity will begin in the Kenworth area of Hickory and will expand rapidly with the first customers being activated later this year.

Residents and property owners in construction areas will receive communication by mail about construction activity in their neighborhood 30 days prior to beginning, and the company provides additional messaging, such as yard signs, to notify when the temporary construction process is beginning in the area.
