Caldwell County has announced that its offices and convenience sites will be closed for the Christmas and New Year holidays. According to the county, convenience sites will not operate on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, which fall on Wednesday, December 24, and Thursday, December 25. These sites will also be closed on New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1.
County offices are scheduled to close from Wednesday, December 24 through Friday, December 26 for the Christmas holiday. Offices will also be closed on Thursday, January 1 in observance of New Year’s Day. Outside of these dates, both county offices and convenience sites will maintain their regular schedules.

In other local education news, recent data shows that a portion of Caldwell County high school students were considered ready for college based on ACT scores during the 2022-23 school year. Among seniors taking the science portion of the ACT, about 17.9% were deemed college-ready (https://www.dpi.nc.gov/), while among juniors it was 19.6% (https://www.dpi.nc.gov/). For reading, 29.2% of seniors (https://www.dpi.nc.gov/) and 25.6% of juniors (https://www.dpi.nc.gov/) met college readiness benchmarks. In math, the figures were lower: 14.5% for seniors (https://www.dpi.nc.gov/) and 15.4% for juniors (https://www.dpi.nc.gov/).
