In the week ending Jan. 3, one gas station in Burke County sold premium gas at the lowest reported price of $3.04 per gallon, according to customer reports submitted to GasBuddy.

Reported prices for premium gas in Burke County averaged $3.34 per gallon.

Among 59 gas stations in cities within Burke County, 14 offered premium gas.

For comparison, the average price of premium gas in North Carolina was $3.46 per gallon for the week ending Jan. 3, up from the previous week.

U.S. gas prices continue to decline after reaching their lowest level since 2021, according to GasBuddy. The group projects the national average could dip below $2.80 per gallon during the holiday period, driven by increased oil production and lower seasonal demand.
