Burke County Planning Board schedules public meeting on rezoning request for April 23

The Burke County Planning Board announced on April 13 that it will hold a public meeting at 5:30 PM on April 23 in the Commissioners Meeting Room at the County Services Building, located at 110 N. Green St. in Morganton, North Carolina. The board will hear public comments regarding a proposed rezoning of property.

The matter under consideration is ZMA 2026-02, a request by applicants Dalton Buchanan and Emma Seagraves to rezone a parcel of land from Residential-One (R-1) to Residential-Two (R-2). The property is located at 2524 Branch Drive, Valdese, NC, with Parcel Identification Number (PIN) #2723040812.

Community members are invited to participate in the process by submitting written comments or concerns about the proposed rezoning. Comments can be sent via email to Community@burkenc.org or mailed to Burke County Community Development at P.O. Box 219, Morganton, NC 28680.

All written submissions must be received by Tuesday, April 21 at 5:00 PM for consideration during the meeting. Residents with questions are encouraged to contact Burke County Community Development at (828) 764-9033.

The upcoming meeting provides an opportunity for citizens to share their views and participate in local decision-making regarding land use changes.
