Burke County approves private sale of used library materials to nonprofit foundation

The Burke County Board of Commissioners has approved the private sale of used library materials to the Library Foundation of Burke County, Inc. The decision was made through Resolution No. 2026-04 on February 16, 2026. According to the notice, these materials include books and other items that are no longer in regular use at the Burke County Public Library.

The sale will be conducted with the nonprofit organization that supports public library services in the county. Transactions may occur in one or more installments at a negotiated price. The purpose of this conveyance is to support library services and related public uses.

As required by North Carolina law NCGS 160A-279, no sale will be finalized until ten days after this notice has been published.
